Curtain Call Fundraising Opportunity

Generally, our policy is to only promote our in-house productions, but during this unusual time when so many theatres and actors are struggling, we feel it is appropriate to make our patrons aware of this opportunity both for entertainment as well as to help support the local arts.

You may recognize the actors in this special production from our "Arsenic and Old Lace" production in December, 2019. They are producing this special benefit event to support 4 local theatres, with Curtain Call being one of them. Information is below on how to purchase tickets for the virtual performances.
Thank you and bravo to the Lauryn family!

The pandemic has forced live theatre venues to go dark for a year now, and the resulting loss of revenue has put these enterprises in a serious cash bind. To help address this threat to the health of the local arts scene, the Lauryn family, residents of Morgan Park, are producing an online streaming performance as a benefit project for four local community theatre groups: The Beverly Theatre Guild, Stray Dog Theatre, The Gaelic Park Players, and Curtain Call Theatre.

They have chosen the show CHAPATTI, a two-person play by the contemporary Irish playwright, Christian O’Reilly. They are presenting the play by special arrangement with Dramatists Play Service, Inc., New York.

Gail and Dave are taking the two roles; Ariel is directing, and Eric is assisting. Gail and Dave have many years of acting, directing, and other theatre experience; Ariel has professional credits in the same areas.

They will record the show and make it available for viewing on Showtix4u, an internet streaming platform. The Beverly Theatre Guild is acting as their non-profit sponsor.

-Friday, April 9, at 7:00 PM
-Saturday, April 17, at 7:00 PM
-Sunday, April 18, at 3:00 PM

How to Get Tickets
Go to The ticket will be emailed as a link and log-in code. One admission = one viewing screen (one device), so of course an entire household can take advantage of one admission. When purchasing tickets, we'd appreciate if you select Curtain Call Theatre!

From every $10 admission price, the Lauryns will donate $7.20 to the theatre group selected by the patron.
(The balance, $2.80, will pay the Showtix4u hosting fee.)

About the Show
The Chicago Sun-Times described CHAPATTI this way: “Unfolding in a deft mix of heartache, despair and gentle comedy, the story is a mix of zesty self-narration and beautifully limned scene work. And it leaves you cheering for these two characters’ hard-won moments of happiness.” O’Reilly uses adult language to explore serious themes, including suicide, so the producers do not recommend this show for younger or more sensitive audiences.
